Here I list some difference between traditional piano and digital piano .

First of all, the sound producing principle is different. In traditional piano, when the players press the keyboard, the keyboard will touch the wooden hammer inside to knock the piano wire to utter the sound. While the keyboard of the digital piano is like on-off switch, when the players press the keyboard, it leads crystal oscillation inside to form frequency wave, the wave go passing the speaker to utter the sound, it’s more like a frequency division simulative circuit.

The second difference is in the appearance,traditional piano are larger than digital piano in structure which should be considered especially when you have small space. There are mainly two types for traditional piano, the grand type and the upright type. The digital piano is smaller, some even with separate body and stand to make it portable.This make it a good choice for small stage performance.

The third difference is that traditional piano is usually with single function, while digital piano is usually multi-functional with adjustable sound volume, headphone interface, various sound effect,such as chord, reverberation, chorus.
